A Life Shaped by the Words of Jesus

Rev. Terry A. Christian is an author, counselor, teacher, former inspirational speaker, and co-founder of the Red Letter Crusade.

Terry’s life has not followed a straight or easy path. He grew up in a troubled home, left school young, and struggled with severe stuttering. Yet the obstacles that once seemed to disqualify him eventually became part of the story God used to prepare him for a lifetime of speaking, teaching, counseling, and ministry.

After committing his life to Jesus as a young man, Terry developed a deep habit of reading the red-letter passages of the Gospels. Over time, one conviction became central to everything he taught: Christians may differ on many things, but every believer can return to the recorded Words of Jesus Christ.

“With God, all things are possible.”One of the convictions that has guided Terry’s life and ministry.

Why Jamaica?

My relationship with Jamaica began during one of the most difficult seasons of my life. I had been diagnosed with bladder cancer and given a devastating prognosis. I was told that my future could be very short.

I did not go to Negril simply for a vacation. I went there because I needed time and space to think about my life, my faith, my relationships, and what I believed God wanted me to do with whatever time I had left.

That is why I walked.

I walked more than 100 miles up and down Negril’s Seven Mile Beach. The walking gave me time to get away from the noise of everyday life and deal honestly with myself. I fasted. I prayed. I read through the four Gospels. I thought about the decisions I had made, the people I had hurt, the people who had hurt me, the things I needed to forgive, the things I needed to change, and the kind of man I wanted to be if God allowed me more time.

The 100 miles were not about exercise. They were about reflection, repentance, forgiveness, faith, and asking God what I was supposed to do with the life I had been given.

As I read the Gospels, I focused especially on the healings done by and around Jesus. I kept noticing a truth that appeared again and again in His words:

“Thy faith hath made thee whole.”

Those words challenged me to examine what faith really meant. I learned to trust God more deeply and to listen for the leading of the Holy Spirit during what I came to call my Miracle Walk.

That time on the beach became a turning point in my life. I came to Negril facing fear, uncertainty, and the possibility that my life might be ending. I left with a renewed sense of purpose and a determination that, if God gave me more time, I would use that time to help other people.

Today, I am cancer-free, and I consider the life God has given me an opportunity to serve His purposes and give back to others.

Jamaica Became Home

Over the years, I returned to Negril again and again for healing, restoration, prayer, and reflection. What began as a place I visited eventually became much more than that.

I became a retired, certified Jamaican resident, approved to make Jamaica my permanent home. I became part of the nation I had come to love and part of Jamaica’s beautiful identity:

“Out of Many, One People.”

Project HELP grew from my desire to give something back to the people and country that had become such an important part of my own journey.

My desire is not simply to arrive with temporary assistance. I want to live among the people, build relationships, encourage individuals and families, share the wisdom I have gained through a lifetime of experience, and help Jamaicans help one another.

I want to help people prosper, strengthen relationships, encourage families, and grow closer together while reflecting the principles expressed in Jamaica’s National Pledge.

What Project HELP Looks Like

When I walk Negril’s Seven Mile Beach, I meet people who spend virtually their entire day in one location serving tourists. While they remain in their particular area, I may walk the entire beach.

That gives me an opportunity to meet people from one end to the other, hear their stories, understand some of their struggles, and build relationships.

I try to be what I call a positive stimulator—someone who brings encouragement, wisdom, understanding, and practical insight into a person’s life or business whenever I can.

Sometimes that means listening.

Sometimes it means counseling or coaching.

Sometimes it means encouraging someone who is struggling.

And sometimes the need is very practical.

When resources permit, I help people who need food, basic supplies, phone credit, or other necessities.

I have a particular heart for mothers trying to support their children after the father is no longer present. I understand some of those difficulties personally because I was once a single parent.

When I am not walking the beach, my heart remains especially drawn toward helping parents, children, individuals, and families build stronger lives and healthier relationships.

Project HELP isn’t about doing everything for everybody. It’s about being willing to do something for somebody when God puts that opportunity in front of us.

Help Me Help Others

Project HELP has never been about building a large organization around me. It is about being available when someone needs help.

When you support this ministry, you make it possible for me to continue serving people in Jamaica while also counseling, coaching, and encouraging people online around the world.

Your support can help provide practical assistance such as food, basic supplies, communication needs, family support, ministry outreach, and the everyday resources necessary to remain present and available to serve.

Some of the people your generosity touches may never know your name. You may never know theirs. But God knows us all.

If you are financially able and feel led to participate, I invite you to give a gift from your heart.

And If You Need Help…

Project HELP works both ways.

If there is a way I can help you through counseling, coaching, encouragement, or simply listening to what you are going through, please reach out.

I don’t want Project HELP to be only an invitation to give.

I want it to be an invitation to connect.

Because sometimes you are the person who can help.

And sometimes you are the person who needs help.

That’s what community is about.

That’s what ministry is about.

And that’s what Project HELP is about.

Helping Everyone Live Peacefully & Productively — one person, one family, one relationship, one act of kindness at a time.

What Did Jesus Say: Seven Messages From the Master
The Assignment That Became a Book

What Did Jesus Say?

Seven Messages From the Master

Terry says the book began with an assignment he could not shake: create a work centered on the Words spoken by Jesus in the four Gospels—without filling the pages with his own interpretations, opinions, or commentary.

What sounded simple became a years-long journey of study, editing, prayer, persistence, setbacks, and obedience. Terry repeatedly returned to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, carefully organizing the recorded Words of Jesus into seven central messages.

The process took approximately twelve years. Along the way, Terry faced personal hardship, health challenges, delays, and seasons when the project seemed bigger than he was. Yet he kept going.

The result was What Did Jesus Say: Seven Messages From the Master—a book created to help readers hear the message of Jesus with as little interference as possible and then decide what they will do with His Words.

Read His WordsReturn directly to the recorded teachings of Jesus.
Hear His MessageSee the recurring themes Jesus emphasized to His followers.
Examine Your LifeAllow His Words to challenge assumptions, habits and traditions.

A Personal Journey of Faith

The Life Walk — Also Known as the Miracle Walk

In 2009, Terry was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Faced with a frightening prognosis and major decisions about his future, he chose to spend an extended period in Negril, Jamaica, praying, fasting, walking, reflecting, and seeking God.

For Terry, that season became far more than a physical journey. He used the miles to review his life, confront regrets, practice forgiveness, repent where needed, and renew his focus on Jesus. He later described the experience as a turning point that brought him a deep sense of peace and spiritual renewal.

Terry subsequently reported that his doctors declared him cancer-free. He refers to this experience as his Life Walk or Miracle Walk.

Important: Terry shares this as his personal testimony and spiritual experience. It is not presented as medical advice, a substitute for professional healthcare, or a promise of a particular medical outcome.

The Heart of the Walk

Reflection. Reconciliation. Renewal.

The Life Walk grew out of Terry’s own practice of walking prayerfully through the seasons of his life—examining relationships, choices, beliefs, hurts, regrets, gratitude, forgiveness, and faith.

His emphasis is not on a formula. It is on deliberately making room to seek God, renew the mind, face unfinished matters honestly, and move forward with greater peace.

What Terry Believes

Jesus Must Remain at the Center

Terry’s ministry is built around a simple conviction: Christian identity is more than a label. Following Jesus means taking His Words seriously.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God.Terry’s faith begins with Jesus Himself—His identity, His teaching, His example, His death, and His resurrection.
His Words still matter. The recorded sayings of Jesus are not museum pieces. They are meant to shape how His followers live today.
Faith should become practice.Belief is meant to influence forgiveness, relationships, service, decisions, love, mercy, and daily conduct.
Jesus is greater than denominational division.Christians may come from different traditions, but believers can still return to Jesus as their common foundation.
